Ramesh Kekunnaya received his basic medical training from Karnataka Medical College, Hubli and specialized in ophthalmology from Government Medical College, Mysore. He completed a fellowship in Comprehensive and Paediatric ophthalmology at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad followed by a Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Fellowship (AAPOS accredited) at Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles, USA. He is an Executive Bureau Director of the World Society for Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus (WSPOS) and a Low Vision committee member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). He has presented at various international and national meetings. He received an ‘Achievement award’ from the American academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in 2012. He has authored many publications in various peer-reviewed journals, written text book chapters and is a ‘Paediatric Ophthalmology Section Editor’ for British Journal of Ophthalmology (BJO). He is actively involved in teaching and research activities in the pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology services. His core clinical interests include simple & complex strabismus (squint), childhood cataract, vision development, lazy eye and neuro-ophthalmological disorders.
